September 11th

I'm writing this blog because today is my 25th birthday and also the 8 year anniversary of the tragedy that was September 11th, 2001. It's a time of reflection and also mourning for the lives that were lost on that day. Yet for me, it's also a day of thanks, I thank God for allowing me to live yet another year, mainly because I've done some incredibly stupid things that should take ended my life much much sooner. This year has been hard and trying and incredibly stressful, but I know He will watch over me and things will work out the way they are supposed to. Thank you for keeping me safe and alive for another year.

Soapbox

I'm so thankful to have a friend that I can talk to about issues that are plaguing the world today. Not many people are so lucky to have a friend that will still love them after saying what you really think about important issues, such as politics and women's rights. I'm liberal, pro-choice and I believe that people should be allowed to marry whoever they want, regardless of gender. This is America, the great melting pot so to speak, yet people are fighting to keep others from being themselves and living the life they want and deserve. It's bullshit. Where is the fairness in that? We've became a country where it's ok for the billionaires in the industry to continue to earn million dollar bonuses, but people in the low and middle class struggle to pay their bills. It's ok for the rich to get away with murder, but gay people aren't allowed to marry. Where is the sense in that? Oh, that's right, it doesn't make a damn bit of sense. I'm tired of the conservitives and religious nut-jobs saying what is wrong and what is right. What is right for me and my family may not be what is right for theirs, but it's ok, that's what is supposed to make America what it is. "Supposed to" are the key words here.
